opheo digitizes transport logistics at the construction material logistics companies
Monday, November 13, 2017 – The service company specializing in the transport of ready-mixed concrete, bulk materials, and steel, “Die Baustofflogistiker”, will in the future dispatch its more than 220 trucks with the integrated transport control station and telematics system opheo. According to the software developed by Solvares Logistics, around 1,000 local and long-distance tours are to be created, assigned, and monitored per day. The introduction of the software is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
The opheo modules Dispo-Cockpit, Fuhrpark and Personal as well as the telematics system opheo MOBILE are used. The forecast function, for which initions received the Telematics Award, plays a central role. With the forecast function, dispatchers can look several hours into the future by pre-calculating and displaying the expected further course of the current and subsequent tours. Dispatchers can thus recognize hours in advance whether loading processes are shifting or delivery time windows can no longer be met.
“With opheo, we are consistently pursuing the path of digitization, which is already commonplace in other logistics sectors today. The precise control, traceability, and transparency of all processes offer our customers and us a decisive added value,” explains Tobias Miethke, who is in charge of the introduction of new IT systems as overall project manager at “Die Baustofflogistiker”. In addition, the company wants to use opheo to monitor the statutory driving and rest periods even more efficiently and relieve dispatchers of routine tasks.
Die Baustofflogistiker specializes in the transport of ready-mixed concrete, bulk materials, and steel and has more than 25 years of experience in this field. The Berlin-based company takes over the complete logistics including handling, warehousing, dispatching, and personnel management.
The fleet comprises 223 vehicles, including concrete mixers, semi-trailer tippers, steel transporters, workshop vehicles, and wheel loaders. The fleet transports around 2.3 million tons of construction aggregates and 500,000 cubic meters of concrete per year. The own workshop, which is open around the clock, ensures short downtimes and maximum reliability. The service provider transports throughout Germany.
