Rüdebusch accelerates with opheo

Thursday, December 10, 2020 – The North German bulk goods forwarding company Rüdebusch Baustoffe und Transporte e.K., based in Braunschweig, will in future control its approximately 600 vehicles with the integrated transport control center opheo and expects to make dispatching 30 percent more efficient. The software solution for transport management, route optimization and telematics developed by initions AG is scheduled to be used at all nine locations from March 2021. With the large investment in the midst of the Corona pandemic, Rüdebusch is using the economically weak phase to further digitalize its own processes.

In the course of the introduction, opheo will be connected to the ERP system used at Rüdebusch, so that the order data for shipping no longer has to be entered manually. Further interfaces will be set up to the existing manufacturer-related telematics solutions of the trucks. This will primarily be used to retrieve the tachograph data and make it available in opheo. This allows the 26 dispatchers to call up the current driving and rest times of all drivers in the dispatch cockpit, the graphical user interface in opheo, and identify and avoid impending violations at an early stage.

The entire fleet of 600 vehicles will be equipped with Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablets and the opheo MOBILE telematics app. The app receives the order and address data from opheo and guides the drivers step by step through the entire delivery process, while the status information and position data are reported back to opheo. Based on this data, the forecasting function calculates a new forecast in real time and automatically updates the display in the user’s dispatch cockpit. Not only the estimated times of arrival, but also the shifts in driving and rest times are automatically calculated. Dispatchers thus receive a valuable time window to change the tour plans and inform customers at an early stage.

The investment should pay for itself through saved empty kilometers and the significantly more efficient processes. “We expect opheo to save us around 30 percent of time, so that our dispatchers will have more time for customer care with a lower stress level,” explains project manager Jens Reupke, who wants to complete the introduction of opheo in February 2021.

With the opheo transport control center, initions offers intelligent standard software for the transport management of road freight transport that has been tried and tested for many years. In addition to tour planning, telematics and ETA forecasting, the solution also includes a tour optimization module based on self-learning algorithms, which enables automatic tour planning and even a completely autonomously operating dispatch. Opheo was awarded the Telematics Award in 2020 for the automated interaction of telematics data and planning functions. In addition to the dispatch process, opheo also automates communication with customers.

Rüdebusch Baustoffe und Transporte e.K. is one of the largest bulk goods forwarding companies in Northern Germany. The transport company, based in Braunschweig, has more than 600 vehicles and employs around 700 people at nine locations. In addition to bulk goods, Rüdebusch also transports general cargo, containers, liquid bitumen, emulsions and powdery products. Overseas transports and inland navigation, in which bulk goods of all kinds are transported, round off the broad portfolio. Rüdebusch is also active in the field of disposal and recycling.

In addition, the group of companies is a supplier of a wide range of building materials. These include, above all, mineral aggregates such as sand, gravel, mineral mixtures, topsoil or paving chippings. Since 2007, the owner-managed medium-sized company has been operating its own driving schools, which are also open to external drivers and companies.
