Bauzentrum Rüppel relies on opheo and webfleet from TomTom Telematics
Thursday, October 19, 2017 – The long-established Bauzentrum Rüppel GmbH will in future dispatch its 25 own trucks with the integrated opheo transport control and telematics system. According to the software developed by initions AG, over 1,000 tons of building materials are to be dispatched per day. The introduction of the software at nine workstations is scheduled to be completed at the beginning of 2018. Within a maximum of two years, the investment should pay for itself primarily through optimized tours and streamlined processes.
“I have already worked with other transport management systems and have not yet come across any software with such extensive functionalities,” explains Logistics Manager Philip Cordsmeier. In addition, opheo was able to score points with its ease of use and the integrated telematics solution opheo MOBILE. “With opheo, we have an end-to-end solution with which we can digitalize all logistics processes between transport planning and delivery,” says Fin Arldt, who is responsible for Controlling & Processes at Rüppel.
opheo MOBILE is being integrated into the WEBFLEET telematics platform from TomTom Telematics at Rüppel. WEBFLEET combines the mobile order management of opheo with TomTom’s own hardware and enables the reading and analysis of FMS and tachograph data. Based on the TomTom Link vehicle tracking devices installed in the vehicles, the tachograph data is to be transmitted to opheo in real time via the TomTom Telematics WEBFLEET portal.
opheo also permanently recalculates the expected delivery times with the real-time data supplied by Webfleet to the entire daily schedule. With this integrated forecasting function, dispatchers have enough time to reschedule or inform customers of impending delays.
The interface to the drivers is provided by the TomTom PRO8275 Driver Terminals with 7-inch screens, which serve as a navigation system and mobile order and communication center. Initions is working with Xplus1 GmbH from Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz on the integration between opheo MOBILE and WEBFLEET.
In a further step, opheo will be connected to an automated communication solution. This will transfer the digital delivery data and receipts from the driver terminals to opheo and automatically convert them into delivery notes in PDF format and archive them. The connection of the forklift drivers, who are to be controlled even more efficiently with opheo, is also planned.
The expected effects of the opheo introduction at Rüppel include streamlined logistics processes, increased transparency of processes and optimized tour planning, which will save some of the kilometers driven. In addition, opheo offers the possibility of accessing transport resources across locations in the dispatching department in the future.
